Hey, I'm a bit of a noob and just soft-modded my previously all original Xbox (probably in the first shipment there were of them, I bought it within the first week they were available) with the Splinter Cell exploit and UDE2. I've been reading and am getting a grip on a lot of the info available on modding in general. I've got Evox, XBMC, and some emulators installed and working and have some questions now.

When installing apps and stuff, I'm wondering: what is the organization/structure of the hdd? I find it hard to believe MS would just give us 5GB free on E to do what we please. I've searched but can't find answers to these questions:
  • How much of and which partitions does the Xbox use on its own for stuff?
  • How much of and which partitions do games use for caching, etc?
  • Related to the above questions, are there guidelines for how much space I should leave free on each partition? (I'm talking about a stock Xbox hdd, not a new bigger one)
