How many leds are best in each controller port. I am trying to decide if I should put one or two in each port. Also where is the best spot to drill the holes in the ports, in the ends in the top, or in the sides. I am not sure anybody have any experience with this or know of the best spot. Also should I get the power for the leds from the hdd power. Is that the best place.

1. 1 or 2 leds?
2. Where to drill the holes in the ports? Top/bottom, Left/Right, In the end
3. Best place to get power for the leds?
4. Should I power them separately or should I put them in a Series or in a Parallel. (I already have 16 lights running in a parallel)

Thanks for the time and I appreciate any help. Thanks again.

you might want to check into that.... hope that helps smile.gif

1. 2 leds
2. Don't drill, shove them in the spaces on the side (3mm)
3. Power them off of the controller port power...
4. ummm..... check timmys guide, try SEARCHING (Timmys Guide)

Are you saying that I don't have to drill any holes and there is somewhere on the side where I can put them in?

yes...u can put them in the metal shielding. I only used one 5mm 3000 mcd LED in each port but you have to look at them from eye level to see the properly. You power them form the red and black wires in the contoller port if u open the shielding. Here's a tutorial... http://www.ejourney.com/~smjames/

I know how u feel about people telling u to search when they know the answer but can't be bothered telling you. It's so annoying! mad.gif

hey.. nice to see my tutorial's still being passed around. I wonder what it's doing to my bandwidth. the main site by the way (with listings of many more mods with great pics) is www.TheTimmy.tk

Anyway...

pretty much what crewdude55 said.

to open the controler ports, use a soldering iron to heat the solder holding them closed near the front and use a very small flat screw driver or blade to seperate it while the solder is hot. if you do it right, you can get them open without very much damage at all, and they can be re-closed and will fit back in place with no problem.

and if you can, keep your lead bending as clean as possible to avoid any problems with grounding out or shorting. if you do it right, no extra wires will be needed at all. (refference my pics)
