How do i lock a harddrive for 1.6 config magic does not reconise kernal

You can use xboxhdm 1.9, Chimpanzee's hdd tools (via telnet), or Config Magic (using a compatible eeprom edited to contain the Unique HDD key from the 1.6 eeprom)..

If you are locking an upgrade HDD you can just lock it staright from the app on the slayers disk also

Just use Slayer 2.6 that did it for me.
Why is it that "invalid xbox messege came up??

Is evox capable of locking a 1.6? I've heard rumours, but I don't see how.. The eeprom structure is different, no Evox version is predated by 1.6's..

I can confirm that I have locked 3 maxtor 120gb drives using the Slayers 2.6 disc in the last 5 days All Crystal 1.6. All were definitely locked as M$ dash could be booted with the modchip disabled
