As topictitle describes, the question is if v 1.6(cool.gif xbox requires a chip or is it also possible to softhack/ tsop this xbox. This becuz of the newly live bans and if its even worth the money putting a chip in, cuz if you will get banned even with chip off, whats the use of it...

No you can't TSOP a 1.6, because it doesn't have a TSOP. It has a combined chip that differs from all other versions. TSOP is just a chip style.

I'm not sure if you can softmod a 1.6, but why, softmods are problematic at best always worring about patching and dashupdates.

Chip is pretty much it. x2.6, x3, Smartxx, etc....

The reason people are getting banned now is becuase of non-stock HDDs, not becuase the modchip is installed. Yes you have to have it off. But you also need the stock HDD.

TeamXtek is in the works of producing a solderless HDD switcher, stay tuned

The best thing to do is buy two, go apeshit with mods on one, and have a virgin for Live. Simple as that.
