Do The Dvd Drives Go Bad ?

Wondering because my xbox wont play some games like nfs underground and the dukes or hazard for examples.Sometimes it will sometimes it wont.I used a cd cleaner in it but it was no good.any ideas?

Dvd drives can wear over time but when it doesn't work what happens? Does it say the disc is dirty or damaged or does it just not load the game at all? If they are backup games it could be the dvd-r media u are burning onto because the same problem happened with me for a while

ther might be a broublem withe the laser and it may require replacement, but as with any electronic device ther is always somthing that can break or get damaged

its all original games,it just does as if it were really scratched or something.but sometimes i can restart a few times and it will work.

are the discs actually damaged in any way?
