Hey guys,

Espn College Hoops is too large for DVD5.

For fun, I dummied out the xboxlive.xbe, update.xbe files

and inside the Visual Concepts Folder, i dummied out files "A" and "B" and the size went down to 4.2 GB

I am not sure what these files were. I thought they were intro movies, but the movie still plays. From playing a few games, it looks like everything plays fine, does anyone know if these are safe files to dummy out?

an update on my post, file "A" is the offense traning video.

dummying that along with the 2 useless xbes should make the archive small enough to burn

the B file is only 30mb, so i put that in even though i am not sure what it is.

Detailed instructions:

download Craxtion (http://www.craxtion.com/)

extract the ISO to a temp folder on your PC Harddrive

Open Notepad, goto save as and name the file: "dashupdate.xbe"
do the same for "update.xbe" and the same for "A"

In the extracted temp folder, replace those files with the blank ones you created.

Go back into Craxtion and create an ISO, choose the temp folder for your source and save a new iso file then burn

I would keep the original ISO handy just in case there is something in that A file besides that video. I have been playing and it seems fine, but better safe then sorry.

The training video is actually pretty decent and good to keep for reference. How about deleting the dumb season preview movie? It's the same in all ESPN games.

I dont think it matters what you delete. It just has to be about 200 mb. I am afraid other game elements are packaged with that video you mentioned or it is the file called "B" which is only 30 mb.

Visual Concepts was smart about how to package this thing. I choose file A because it seemed as if the person who did the NFL tool blanked out the letter files, so i figured they were most likely to be the parts of the game you never really use (like the tutorial videos)

Hello. I just tried to make the game work from DVD-R using empty "A" and "dashupdate.xbe" files without success (left "update.xbe" and "B" as they were).

Game seems to start correctly, but when I try to start a game I can't go further the LOADING screen. Have tried putting the XBOX in both NTSC and PAL. Can't try to make it work from HDD because I have the original one.

Any idea? Thanks in advance!

Thanks SpiGGy. I had been looking around before even trying to burn the game without success, it seems I will have to look even more.

1) Blank out:

A(no extension)

dashupdate.xbe

update.xbe

2) Create ISO (I used QWIX)

3) Burn

So far, so good! biggrin.gif

If you get rid of the file "A" then it is small enough fit to dvdr without removing the two xbe files. Is there a reason to remove these files since they don't change the disc size enough to matter?

The reason we remove these is because they are for xblive and since you can't play a backup on xbl there is no point in keeping them. Without the two xbe's it will simply go to the MS dash when you hit xbox live in the game menu.
