Has anyone used the Sony RMA-V3000, RMA-V3100, RMA-V2000, or RMA-V2100 with XBMC? Its a pretty high end remote, I imagine that it will be able to be programmed to do everything I would want in XBMC. Its pricey though so I'm hoping someone can share their experience with it first.

I imagine any "learning" remote like this one will be able to interface with XBMC as long as you program the RCA remote codes into it?

This remote has customizable buttons with customizable labels. So if I make a button labeled "My Music", will I be able to teach it the "My Music" command from the XB-MCE remote?

I don't know much about sony remotes, but I do know about the philips Pronto remotes.

You can teach / program any code (from OBC 0~ 255) and edit your keymap.xml to do any of the following...

> Button to switch directly to ANY WINDOW (ie my music / my videos)
> Button to run a script (ie Web Radio)
> Button to run a XBE (ie fav Emulator / app)
> Button to shutdown xbox directly
> Button to restart XBMC

That's very cool. Stevie_mac, would it be possible for you to post your ccf & keymap file? I'd love a button that automatically launched xebian! smile.gif

I have the v2000 model and it works with everything. I don't have the Remote for my XBOX because I just modded mine and never needed it before. It will learn everything that is IR based. Point the remote at the v2000 and it learns the signal. I've never seen it not work as an IR replacement so I am 99.9% sure it will will work just the same as the MS remote. I have it working with my lights and TV tuner card so if it works with these, it will work as a replacement XBOX remote.

Open your Keymap.XML in notepad / text editor

Add the following entry...

CODE
<action>
    <description>Launch xebian</description>
    <id>XBMC.RunXBE(e:\apps\xebian\default.xbe)</id>
    <remotecode>199</remotecode>
</action>

Asumptions I made here...
> The XBE is call default.xbe & its path is e:\apps\xebian\ (edit to suit)
> The OBC to fire this entry is 199 (this could be 0 ~ 255)

You can also call...
XBMC.RunScript(e:\apps\XBMC\Scripts\MyScript.py)
XBMC.Shutdown()
XBMC.Reboot()
XBMC.RestartApp()
XBMC.ActivateWindow(#) (where # = Window ID. e.g. 0=home, 1=My Programs etc)

EDIT:
PM me your Email address & i'll send you my config files.
