I recently botched my LPC rebuild on my crystal xbox 1.6. I was installing the x2.6 chips. Worked fine for about a month, and then something happened and I keep fragging all the time. Tried resoldering to no avail.

I have the xapter solderless adaptor, and was wondering if I was to buy a USED xbox (black one) if anyone knows that likelyhood that this would NOT be a version 1.6. I though I read somewhere that all crystal xbox's were 1.6's, and that's all. Has anyone seen a black version 1.6 xbox? If so, do you know manufacture date etc? The reason I ask, is so I don't buy another 1.6 by mistake.

Thanks for any help you can provide

Anything pre-March 2004 should not be a 1.6.

Great, thanks

One more question, I flashed the chip using slayers disk for the version 1.6. Is it possible to reflash it using slayers disk again with the bios' for the 1.0-1.5 versions if I get one?

Thanks again.

If you left one of the banks untouched, then you can use the flashbios still on there. If you didn't, then either try a hotswap with and existing modded box or buy a programmer.
