I put about 4,000 mp3s on my xbox so I could play them with XBMC, but I can't find them on the xbox. I think I read somewhere that with the FatX file system you can only have 4096 files in a folder (is that right?), but I am sure I did not go over that. I FTP'ed them over to my xbox, and I can see them fine when I browse the HDD through FlashFXP. The problem is that when I use XBMC or any other program on the XBox, I can only see the first 256 files. What is going on? How do I get to these other files?

thanks for your help!

perhaps its a software specific issue? can you see them with other programs on your xbox? if so maybe xbmc is only able to see 256 files in a folder. try looking with boxplorer or avalaunch's file manager and see if all files are visible. also i would reccommend doing what antz said and put them into grouped folders. i'm sure if you group the songs by performer you won't exceed that 256 file limit.

It happens with all programs. I can only see them when I FTP into my xbox.

As far as I know there isn't a limitation, surely not 256. I had well over a thousand mp3's and I saw all of them on my xbox(using xbmc). I did a media search for music files in xbmc and it showed all of them.

2354 mp3's here and they all show up,I'd let you know if they all worked....but that'd take too damn long. All the ones I did try worked fine though.
