i tried restoring my backup eeprom.bin (I did the backup in evoX) using configmagic, and i tried deleting all the gamesave exploit and the weird O drive with the evoX in it. Then i restored my backup E drive and C drive, and I restored my gamer tag backup from my mem card. When i tried playing live, it still gives me the "modification xbox error." I'm not happy and I need help. Please.

restoring the same eeprom wont get you unbanned, you need a full new one.

getting banned doesnt change anything on your box, so restoring your epprom doesnt change a thing. Its some of the data inside the EPPROM that gets banned

so xbox live has my eeprom in its "ban files", and if my eeprom matches it, it blocks the connection?

that and some info about your hard drive. Replace your eepron and hard drive and in theory you should be good.

Yes

I think its the HD KEY it bans, have a look in the xbox live thread.

Im banned from live also but im not going to risk another epprom by accessing it with my modded console again. (Damn auto sign in)

im gunna buy an xbox for live, they really cheap nowadays and what an excuse to buy a crystal one

ok thanks guys. this explains very well. i'm thinking about getting the eeprom from one of my friends old xbox which hasn't been banned, yet. One more question: if i have a truly unbanned eeprom, do i have to buy a new harddrive as well?

well M4 is now supposivly checking the HDDs for partion tables or soemthing, so as long as your HDD is stock you have no reason to get banend again.
