I just bought an xbox and i wanted to know if mine was version 1.6 or 1.6b. I have bought the spider chip and see if it will be compatible and work without soldering.

Doesn't matter wether your xbox is a 1.6 or a 1.6b the spider chip is solderless for every version. Just make sure you flash it with the m8plus_16 bios.

I think you still have to rebuild the lpc points. Because some holes in the LPC points are not active that's why you have to rebuild it. No modchip is completely solderless with xbox v1.6/1.6b!

Well it wasn't that hard to rebuild the LPC points.

OK I've seen the chip but how are you going to attach the wires hanging of it to the mobo and make sure that it has a good contact? Looks a bit sus to me.

spider

<<i have modded before with 1.0 - 1.4 and everything was simple with the xbit. and i chose the spider chip becuase it was the only solder less one. i have soldered before but just dont want to risk it being that this is a present for my gf's little sister. I didnt buy it so i really dont want to mess it up.>>

Well according to the picture it's solderless but like my other post, I question the wires having a good contact on the mobo. Well you should be able to get a diagram of where the wires go but I don't like the idea of just wires not being soldered on the points on the mobo.

You can go here and download the installation manual http://www.xbox-modc....com/spider.htm, you'll see the manual down the bottom of the page http://www.xbox-modc...ider/Spider.pdf

It would be ok, actually it would be better. Atleast you know that the wires are gonna have a good contact.
