I'm going to be putting 2 hard drives into my Xbox, and I was wondering where the most common places were to put the Hard drives [for example, under the dvd drive]? Is there a definitive place, or is it open to whatever you choose?

If your puttin two in there. Make sure you have atleast another fan for air movement in there. With another hd blocking air it could heat up more.

Is there room in a standard case for 2 drives? Also there is only 1 IDE port and a cable with only 2 connectors ( Standard) so how are you going to hook up 3 IDE devices?

You can mod the IDE for 3. But you can only have 2 on at one time.

Is this true?
I ran across this problem when I was modding mine with three hard drives. Everytime I plugged in the third hard drive it went bad. I ask if this is true because does'nt the Extender case allow for three hard drives. I'm sure their all plugged in at the same time. I mean if you buy an Extender and have to unplug hard drive ide's what's the point. This is questionable.

Yeah, it's true. Theres a tut over at llamma.com for it.

Just make sure only 1 hard drive has power at a time. So you need a dpdt switch.

I see what your saying now.
Three devices meaning dvd and two hard drives.
I was wondering could you run a third Hard drive off one ide. I made up two ide ribbons on my own and had two done at the local computer store and none of them worked. Everytime you add the third drive, like I said, it crapped out.

As long as you only power one hard drive, I wouldn't see why adding three would be a problem.
