Yes I'm back. Anyways, I've heard talk of using an external hard drive. I have a 200 gig hd I put in a case I know has firewire and may or may not have an ethernet port. Could I use this as an external hd for my xbox?

Thx in advance

Ps wut format should I use if I was to use this drive for my xbox?

I know that there is an adapter from the xbox port to a female usb port so i was wondering if it would be possible to hookup and external usb hard drive with backup games to the xbox and have the xbox actually be able to play the games off that hard drive

i think what he means is...

it'll only work when you are WITHIN linux on your XBOX (if then). In a similar way you can have a keyboard and mouse plugged in, but they will only work when you are in the linux OS, not during gameplay

Why not just put a stonking big HDD in the XBOX anyway?

It seems like alot of work to get a bigger HD locked and all that crap to make it work correctly with the xbox if u know of a program that if i put a hard drive in my pc it would lock it and all that stuff without me doin much then that would be sweet

The latest evox can lock/unlock hdd with the push of a button.
Is that easy enough?

Yeah, but he asked about locking/unlocking AND "all that crap"....is there "an all that crap" button? Or will he still have to do "all that crap" manually? jester.gif

nice one mr. ed. well i guess i should make it clearer for everyone. I modded my xbox using the mechassault exploit and not a modchip as of yet. So to my knowledge i have to do alot of stuff to a pc hard drive to be able to make the xbox think that it is ok. Also i am using the newest version of evox but im not familiar with the unlock/lock option you are talkin about cromat44 but that might only be a feature in the modchip version or somethin so let me know exactly what it is I have to do cuz i do have a spare 20gig HD lying around my room somewhere and would like to do this mod if its not to difficult

Tutorial for no mod HD replacement:
http://forums.xbox-s...ST&f=44&t=98806

IMO, you should just do a TSOP flash or buy a mod chip if you want to painlessly install a new hd. There is no easy all-in-one program for softmodded xboxes.

Eh,

Mod or TSOP flash the Xbox, if it is not already.

Place new hard drive in it.

Boot Slayers 2.5 Final.

Hit, PREPARE NEW HD.

Wait 4-5 minutes.

Remove disk.

"All that crap" has been done.

Your Xbox is now populated with applications, media players, utilities.

It's about as simple as it gets.

if i were to add an external hardrive via a usb port on the xbox, would i be able to save applications and stuff just like an internal one, or would it be too slow, or would i even be able to access it via avalaunch, xbmc, or any other dashboard?

i thought only two devices could be hooked up to the motherboard. i.e dvd drive + 1 hard drive.

you might be able to format it as the g: drive to have evox read from it, like it will read the g: partition on an internal drive. i'm not really sure about it though
