Switch For Generic Modchip

This is my chip, im unsure exactly what it is but i assume its a generic 256k LPC mod. (the guy installing it makes them himself and did it cheap for me)

if i were to cut the purple wire that goes between d0 and one of the LPC connections and install a switch on it, would this effectivly work as an on/off switch for the chip?
