don't know where this should go but its pretaining to softmodding...anyways i wanted to put a bigger hard drive in my xbox (its softmodded w/ltools v1.6) so i burned Xboxhdm on to a cd but when i boot it in my computer and select option 1,2, or 3 it starts to load then it says uncompressing linux and reboots itself.

does any one know the answer to this problem?

if not how about this one,..

is there another program like xboxhdm, and if theres not is there work around or another method of cloning my xbox hard drive/building one from scratch i can use this dos utilities that came with xboxhdm but i dont know what my PASSWORD is?
is the a possiblity that i could use norton ghost to copy the drive?

thanks

Are you copying the xboxhdm.rar file onto a cd-rom? If so, then that will not work, you need to create a iso image after you copy the eeprom.ini, c: and e: directory from your xbox.

This stuff is all in the forum, do a search and you'll find it...

jeez give me some credit im not retard of course i unrared like i said it will loa but when i try to select an option it reboots itself how bout this idea (i dont' know how you could do it)

is there i way that i can just copy the tools needed for option 2, so that when i put the cd in it goes stright to option 2 without bringing up the first menu but instead taking me to the second menu with the screen that looks like this "__ ___ _ _______ ___ ___ _
\ \ / / | | | | | _ \ | \/ | | |
\ V /| |__ _____ __ | |_| | | | | | . . | __ _| | _____ _ __
/ \| |_ \ / _ \ \/ / | _ | | | | | |\/| |/ _' | |/ / _ \ '__|
/ /^\ \ |_) | (_) > < | | | | |/ / | | | | (_| | < __/ |
\/ \/_.__/ \___/_/\_\ \_| |_/___/ \_| |_/\__,_|_|\_\___|_|

You have the following options :
1) Build a new Xbox HD from scratch
2) Rebuild C-partition on existing Xbox-drive
3) Clone existing Xbox HD
4) Install F-drive
5) Wipe current fatx partition table
6) Generate HD Key (requires eeprom)
7) Make DOS floppy with HD lock/unlock tools
8) Quit"

i really dont think there would be a very easy way to redo it so taht you go straight there, at least, i wouldnt know where to start. one reason is because the step before that screen tells you to type "xboxhd" and thats when it checks to make sure that the hdd is in the correct position and that its unlocked. the only thing i could suggest would be to try to re-copy the cd, or try it on another computer, for example on my computer i got some error and it said to hit the space bar to over-ride it so i did, and everything worked fine, but when i did it on my friends computer, i didnt get that message.

Certain things you can do, when XboxHDM reboots on you are to.

1. Disable all HD's in your Pc's BIOS

2. Update your PC's BIOS to the latest provided from your manufactor.

3. Unhook all but the secondary master cd drive.

4. Turn off BIOS caching.

These are a few tips that may or maynot work for you.

Alright so his tool is just where it copies everything from the original hdd to your new one, and sets it up itself. Its a mechassualt gamesave as well. Anyway try it. Its good. Oh and it wont work on a 1.6 without telnet... Yea...

yeah same thing happened to me, i booted with xboxhdm cd and after choosing either option 1 or 2 to load up linux it reboots right before it gets to part where if shows devices being detected.. tried on another newer pc and it works... pc i tried it on was an old amd 450 with only 32mb ram... i guess u need more ram or something to use xboxhdm and get past the initial option load up cuz it works fine on a newer p4 system with 512mb ram...

Upgrade your config-magic to the Final.

Or get your eeprom.bin from the softmodded box, and place it on an xboxhdm cd, and prepare it using a pc.
