I am building a new case. I've had a few ideas and I'm after you're input. I used photoshop to make a very basic design and the idea is for it to look really cool both day and night. It will have a black, blue and crystal colour scheme and involves me chopping apart a stock and a crystal case and sticking the two together basically.

This is the photoshop image I made as a basic prototype or guide to where I want to start.

Note this is just a guide. Obviously the blue areas represent light given of by LED's and cold cathode lights.

The mod needs to include:
Changing power light to blue,
changing jewell to lit blue
using crystal casing for much of the outer shell in order to allow blue LED and cc lighting out

later:
considering windows and led's for various different internal activity.

Once I have done this I will customise parts and designs in order to make the mod as original as I can.

Please give me any suggestions that you have

Cheers,
Ravenge

P.S. I live in Australia so any info on where I can get gear that i would need to do this sort of mod would be most appreciated.

Well in order to get the prototype case made like that, you will need a genuine crystal case - then mask carefully the areas you want and spray black - you could do this on the outside and laquer it after.

The rest shouldnt be too hard.

Very nice idea tho.

That's an awesome lookin idea! Ya, get a 3rd party case, not a true crystal. Painting the X would certainly make things a lot easier, because it would involve no cutting, but if you do splice 2 together, that would be sick! Good luck to ya!

i like the idea and also agree that painting a crystal would be easier. my only question though is where will the CCs be? is that an LED jewel ring in there? where will the light be that spreads outward coming from?

looks good. but just paint a clear case. it would be near impossible to cut up 2 cases and attach them together, to make them look nice. great idea though beerchug.gif

lol i have wondered about the drive bay actually, I was going to take a look at it when i had the two cases to splice.

I will still cut and join 2 cases even though paint would be easier as in my opinion it would look far superior than paint, then there's the added worry that paint will scratch/flake off.

As for the blue light eminating at the top. i will use a EL cable or a couple of CC's underneath the black X.

What do you think?

Cheers,
Ravenge

The paint won't scratch if you paint the inside of the case. Plus you will get a perfect finish. Thats the way I would do it.
