I am installing a Western Digital 300GB HD. If the limitations of a partition is 137GB, that means that F and G partitions will max out at 137GB each. That adds up to 274GB plus C,E,X,Y,Z is about another 7G. So I see all of these post about people wanting to use 350 or 400GB HD's, but with the limitations of the size of each partition, wouldn't it be a waste to get a HD over 281GB, which 300GB was the next closest for me? It seems to me that the extra HD space wouldn't be able to be used until a new partition is created, like H. Could someone tell me if I am think correctly or incorrectey, because if I'm wrong, I would like to know how to get the extra 19G out of my HD. Thanks!

The max partition size is not 137Gb.

You'll get the full capacity of your drive.

The issue is related to the LBA in the BIOS not being capable of handling drives of more than 137Gb.

With 48 bit LBA you can have big drives (i.e. ~2TB). wink.gif

i would add the G partition to any drive over 250g as a few people have come back to me after games started to fail but as soon as i added the new partition to split it up more every game worked fine....

then again i have a 250g maxtor without the G partition and i've never had a problem smile.gif

Or use 32K clusters using XBPartition.

I have a 300GB Maxtor Plus 10 (16MB Cache) in mine, no G drive and never had any problems with it.

And my son gives it a serious workout! laugh.gif
