XBMC is a stand alone application, that can be used and configured as an Xbox dash.

I have XBMC as my primary dash, and Avalaunch as my secondary. For instance I can exit to avalauch from XBMC. Though I haven't used Ava in some time now, don't ask me how to configure it, since I totally forgot. But there are tutorials.

I highly recommend using XBMC as your main dash, since its just simply excellent.
