Unless ppl are mistaking the new regression of the 1.6b down to the 1.4 which we are currently seeing in the latest xbox consoles.

couldnt a 1.6b be called a 1.7? cause a 1.5 is just a 1.4 with the power and ground removed from the lpc, a 1.6b is just a 1.6 with different ram

The reason why the v1.5 was calles v1.5 instead of v1.4b was
besides the LPC changes, the kernal also changed a notch.

Only time the "version" should change, is when the "kernal"
changes combined with a major layout change.

The reason why the v1.6b is a "b" instead of v1.7, is no layout
changes were made to the mainboard, all chips are the same
except for the "brand" of the RAM.

Even the "kernal" is the same.

XBOX BOARD HISTORY
===============

1MB TSOP
-----------
v1.0 === kernal 3944 and kernal 4034
v1.1 === kernal 4132 and MCPX chip changed
v1.2 === kernal 4627 and controller port sub-board removed.

256K TSOP
------------
v1.3 === kernal 4817 and ATX PSU supply and only one fan.
v1.4 === kernal 5101 and video is FOCUS
v1.5 === kernal 5713 and LPC bus changes.

Internal BIOS (Xcyclops)
----------------------------
v1.6 === kernal 5838 and video is Xcalibur, BIOS is now inside Xcyclops.
v1.6b == kernal 5838 and RAM chips change to a new "brand" manufacter.
v1.7 === DOES NOT EXIST

All 2005 machines are either v1.6b or re-built v1.4 boards.
