Or do they have to be extracted. If they can, which emulators CAN'T read RAR'd files?

I thought it was only zip files. Or do you mean you used winrar to zip them?

I will have to test this again today.

It's on an emulator by emulator basis. From what I remember, all the most popular emulators on Xbox support Zip files but very few support the RAR format. Just check the readme's for each one if you have to use RAR. Otherwise, I'd suggest just switching over to Zip.

all of them can read zip except for any n64 emu's. you have to extract the n64 file as is in the roms folder. none of them can read rar.

example:

f:/emulators/surreal64/roms/nintendo64gamenamehere.n64 or .z64 . or .rom

That's not correct. Surreal reads zipped files just fine.

i admit my mistake... you can use zip files. now if someone can make surreal see 7z... that would rock. beerchug.gif

Engage brain before typing - if Surreal read .7z formats you would see about 20 different versions of the same game in the GUI.

The only workaround would be to select the version after you pick the title.
