Broken Pot

i need to know if , the dvd pot has like a specific um...name or other identifier , so when i go to radioshack i can grab the right one.
or are they pretty much generic?

Well, in my experiences (limited as they are) I've never seen a POT that small at my local Radio Shack. That thing is friggin tiny! Maybe it's available through the Radio Shack catalogue as a special order, ask them if you can look through it...look for the section that has potentiometers and rheostats.(assuming, of course, that you live somewhere in the vicinity of a radio shack)tongue.gif

i've bought a micro pot from radioshack before, and it's pretty tiny...
i don't know how big the one on the dvd drive is, but the one i bought was around 1 cm sq. is that too big?

Pots are all different.

Linear, log, center tap, different resistance, etc.

You will need an exact match, which is not easy to do without a label or product ID.

Forget RatShack.

just wanna shoot mad respekt at you all for replying.
i just calledMS and they wouldnt give me a technician without a serial, so i made fun o them and hung up (mind you tey have had the chance twice) , so it looks like i gotta wait for my new drive to arrive. simplest of questions they refused to answer! ok , lets tear this modder fokker up!
