Installing Myriad & Northern Expansion On Xbox

Now that the northern expansion of Myriad is out, I decided it was time to write another tutorial. Due to some extremely constructive and intelligent comments ( :rol: ), this install is idiot-proof. If you having issues with it, you are some form of hyper-evolved idiot. Darwin cries for you. Now, on with the tutorial!

Tools needed
IDE Killer (http://www.geocities.com/ghost_master2000/gtapics.html)
TXD Workshop (http://www.gtatools.com)
RWAnalyze (http://www.steve-m.com)
IMG (http://www.turnipfan.com)
Colleditor (http://www.steve-m.com)
Text editor
FTP client
WinRAR (http://www.rarlabs.com)

Download the two main installs for myriad from the links included below

Extract both, and have each in their own window

Connect to your Xbox with your FTP client and copy over the /DATA and /MODELS folders from your Xbox version of Vice City

Open folder which you copied /DATA and /MODELS into (now referred to as 'root install folder')

Copy IDE Killer into the 'root install folder', then run the EXE

Delete all folders in 'root install folder'/DATA/MAPS (leave files)

Switch to 'blank_land04' window

Copy /MAPS folder, as well as 'gta_vc.dat', 'main.scm', 'occlu.ipl' and 'waterpro.dat' into 'root install folder'/DATA, allow it to overwrite any files it wants to

Copy 'paths.ipl' into 'root install folder'/DATA/MAPS

Switch to 'illnorth_alpha' window

Copy /MAPS folder in 'root install folder'/DATA/, allow it to overwrite any files it wants to

Add these lines into /DATA/gta_vc.dat in their respective areas (ie. IDE lines underneath existing IDE lines, COL lines underneath existing COL lines)

Open up 'root install folder'/DATA/MAPS/ILLCOMNE/illcomne.col with COLEditor

Delete 'illcom_c5_r1' entry

Import 'illcom_c5_r1' entry from 'illnorth_alpha' folder

Save and close COLEditor

Make a folder in 'root install folder'/MODELS called 'add_to_img'

Copy contents of the 'add_to_img' folder from 'blank_land04' folder into 'root install folder'/MODELS/add_to_img

Copy contents of the 'add_to_img' folder from 'illnorth_alpha' folder into 'root install folder'/MODELS/add_to_img, overwriting any duplicate files

Open up 'root install folder'/MODELS/add_to_img/MODELS/add_to_img/illcom.txd with TXDWorkshop

Compress all textures

Save and close TXDWorkshop

Open all TXDs in 'root install folder'/MODELS/add_to_img/MODELS/add_to_img/ with RWAnalyze and convert to Xbox TXD

Open 'root install folder'/MODELS/add_to_img/MODELS/GTA3.img with IMG

Rebuild archive

Delete 'root install folder'/idekiller2.exe and 'root install folder'/models/add_to_img

Transfer folders back onto xbox

Delete GTA_VC.CAP.Final

Rename /E/UDATA/5454000f to something else

Run Game

Notes: Seems to be some major memory problems with this. For one thing, you've got the 'Dualshock' message covering the whole screen. That's easily fixed by forcing widescreen mode through the SCM. Much more serious problems are the fact that draw distance is set to roughly ten metres, and all vehicles act like there is no friction in the world. Still looking into these.

Issues with the tools dude:

IDE Killer (http://www.geocities.com/ghost_master2000/gtapics.html) This is fine

TXD Workshop (http://www.gtatools.com) can't find it

RWAnalyze (http://www.steve-m.com) can't find this either

IMG (http://www.turnipfan.com) can't find this

Colleditor (http://www.steve-m.com) cvan;t find this and the one I had before didn't work.

Read the page for the COLEditor. You need to put the DLL in your \Windows\System32\ folder, not the COLEditor folder.

I hate to bring this up again, but you do need to look for these things yourself. The authors are known for putting important updates on the frontpages of their sites, and it's common courtesy to link to the main page, instead of leeching off them by having a direct download.

Thanks for letting me know about that other topic though. Hopefully none of those problems should affect the install of this.

I didn't do that and it still worked. I put it in the folder of the COL editor.

Great Tut Opius!

I have one problem though. Whenever I try to launch Colleditor, I get this error:

I tried updating directx to ver9 but that didn't solve the prob.
I already emailed steve-m about it, as it said to do in the readme (imagine that, someone ACTUALLY reading the readme! blink.gif )

But I was wondering if you already knew about this bug/issue and knew a fix.
Or, Is there another coll editor out there. I did A search over at gtagaming.com and there isn't one there, so i take it there isn't another one.

OR, (Easier) could you or anyone else give me the edited version of illcomne.col?

Well not totally, grifter somehow had problems with d/ling the files. Seems he's unable to click on downloads, then tools at stevem's site blink.gif

Not quite.

I don't know whether he missed a step or what, but there is a confliction with one of the pictures he posted and what he is saying is supposed to happen

That picture isn't for IDEkiller you dumbsh!t. AFTER idekiller2.exe has run, you need to browse to that folder, and delete them, WOW that simple.
