jester.gif I told you all about 1 of the Xbox 360 Many,Many,Many Hidden talents
"Ages" ago a Company by the name of Sega created a Cable Gaming Channel which
ran Hispeed in the Early 90s..which gave "Full Game downloads for a Member Fee"

Now this is the Turn around Point ...You will not Only be able to BUY your Games from the Store... Certain Games will be Rentable Online tongue.gif "maybe buyable"
but think of it as a Online Gamefly tongue.gif pop.gif
The Content would be stored in your HD..for a certain amout of time
like a 3.99$ rently for 3days or so..this is ONLY one of the MANY MANY things
the Xbox 360 is can and will do ph34r.gif

Xbox360 to have downloadable games?
>>
QUOTE
The official word from MS on downloadable content for Xbox 360 is that it will have downloadable game content, trailers, and demos, some free and some for a price. What has not been mentioned before is that the Xbox 360 will have downloadable games.
demo
This bit of information was revealed in a press release sent out today from GarageGames about its new President, Mark Frohnmayer. Frohnmayer had this to say: "GarageGames now has three powerful engines, and we're constantly improving our development toolset. We've got several exciting projects on the horizon including a killer casual game being developed in partnership with another company and a downloadable title for the upcoming Xbox 360."

It seems the Xbox 360 Live service will allow purchases of games online. MS has yet to release official information on this, but we'd speculate this would be an opt-in style delivery service. GarageGames has always used online purchasing for their games and it's likely that companies such as Sega, MS Games Studios, and others will continue to make sales through retail. Still, cheap games that can be tried in form and purchased without ever leaving your living is not a bad thing.

and Remember i told u Guys that..already ph34r.gif

Xbox 360 will be the System of Choice..it is the Turn around Point

MS is doing a Great job...no a Fantastic Job ph34r.gif

The games they're talking about are simple ones though, I believe. Not the kinds you buy at the store (ie Halo, Burnout, etc.), but more like the ones you play online (ie puzzle, mini, or kind of like the games on Shockwave). In other words, not the high capacity games. Downloading 3GB's wouldn't be a fun thing. It'd take forever and put a load on the servers hosting 'em.

EDIT: Although, they could compress the files and have an installer, or possibly have incrimental d/l's....

biggrin.gif Umm No downloading Games wouldnt be Slow..from MS Servers lol
I think it could be pulled off..no Lil Puzzle Games..but Real Games
1st off they can either Steam the Games to you or u could get it from them downloadable.
i believe they could get a Download time..say 30mins or so a Game
kinda like a Ftp from your Local Network...The Connection from MS wouldnt be
a normal Pipeline on they game Servers..they would have a Fast pace Connection
like the connections we have on our Ethernet cards..is really faster than we
actually get to use...its just that Most Sites dont have the Download and Upload peaks
to Run a Fast download SERVER..but this MS we're talking about
and 360 does have the Beast Power for the JOB

Example..your Xbox 360 and your Connection..could do 100k's on server
and a faster server could give u 300 to 400k's
well with a REALLY GOOD SERVER..lol u get the idea..but it could be done..
steamed or downloaded...future games actually wont be as big as you think
because todays file compression systems are better "MS said it"

Example Halo 2 was about 3 to 4 gigs..they said with Xbox 360 compression system
they could of downsized it 3gigs in SIZE..omg Halo2 barely 1 gig on xbox 360
lol extactly.. blink.gif

Yes, games will be as big as I think because, yeah, they have a new compression for sounds, video and such, but the graphics and maps are gnarlier and will require more space. So they will still be the same sizes as they are now.

But what I'm thinking of is if you have some blockbuster game like Halo on a service like that, and have like 5000 people (maybe more) downloading or streaming a game of that size constantly (it would be more like 2 hours to d/l a 3gb game at 400kbs), problems will arise. Doesn't matter who is running it. But in reality, I have NO clue laugh.gif So I guess we'll see what happens.

Also, a service like that would practically be asking to get cracked. As soon as a modchip is developed for the 360, the next thing on someones list would be to crack the DRM on those games so you could keep 'em.

blink.gif Modchips cant go on Live..mod has to be off..or u get banned
anyways from what i heard and seen from Xbox 360 it can Steam at a Fast Rate
Meaning Content could be Broadcast Steamed from a Network and we download
sections of Levels by Levels..meaning the HDD could be used store levels
and most likely the xbe files will still be signed..

and Besides the way the Xbox 360 is looking..its already a MOD my friend smile.gif

If you are able to d/l games, why would you need to be on Live to remove the DRM? The game would be loaded on the HDD and ready to go. Unless ur talking about streaming a game, then yeah, I see what you're sayin'. But like I said.. we'll see what happens.

I'm very sure they won't do anything like that, I mean look at the xbox live screens, it just says DEMOS, but of course the "final" version of xbox 360 live isn't finished, but i'm certainly sure they won't, if they do, im shocked.

Maybe they will have something different? Like MS Delivery Service.... You know mircrosoft sending you games that you payed over Xbox live or on the internet? I made it up, but maybe they will do something like that?

Well, you know how they said all the best-selling blockbuster games would only be backwards compatible, I was thinking that maybe because they would let you download them off of the xbox live marketplace.
You can find Halo1, 2, Fable, Splinter Cell 3, but not games like Dead to rights or Ford racing.

I think it would be a good idea for MS. And you would download them to your HDD, not stream them, because that would be harsh on the servers.
