I have recently bought an XBOX 1.6 (samsung ram) pre-modded with Aladdin XT Plus 2 chip. The problem is that, the LED on the chip is always on and I am unable to switch off the mod chip for XBOX LIVE.

Please advice how can I use the chip ON/OFF feature?

Also, there is only default MS dashboard available and would like to install the Evolution X dashboard.

dont you think you should ask your installer about this?
I know if you had gotten a premod from me i would want you to talk to me first if you had any problems.

You're installer knows what was done and how the chip was installed, and they should be best suited to help you with any problems or questions you have.

Well, You are right, but my cousin bought it for me from PAKISTAN..

So asking from the installer is not an option. Please let me know what to check.. Can this behaviour be modified if I update the BIOS?

I have opened the XBOX and saw 'ALADDIN XT PLUS 2' written on the mod chip. Also three wires are connected to the motherboard.

Even when I switch off the XBOX with the power on/off button, this LED on the mod-chip doesn't go off. Is it OK?

The reason why the chip is always on is because the BT and/or L1 points are not soldered on the mobo. Luckily for you, these points are really easy to locate and solder. All your xbox has is a full lpc rebuild and a d0 point. Just go into your mobo and solder BT and/or L1 and that should work.

Pics of where the points go to are in my signature. Use the alternate BT and L1 as they are easier

Thanks for all the help guys.

hockeyfrk5: I have BT and L1 connected on the board.. BT is connected to left of R3G6 and L1 connected to right of R3G2

I have managed to install Evolution X and XMBC. Also XLink Kai is working fine.

Only thing that comes to mind is the installer was not super familiar with 1.6's....and he wired up the lframe(d0) lead.... and then after decided to cut the lframe trace....leaving it as an always on install. Or just tied lframe to ground?
