Hey guys this is my first post on this forum, but i am a long time reader. I am having problems with my xbox. For the past couple of months i can hear sizzle sounds everytime i plug it in. I have the new Power Plug that i received from MS and it dosnt seem to help. I tried my xbox today and it continues to sizzle, but now it wont turn on. I have an x3 soldered in and a 120 gb harddrive in it. If you guys know anything about whats going on, or a way to fix it please reply to this post. Oh yea, the 2 round connector pins on the system that the power plug plugs in to look cracked. is it suppose to be like that? or it it still supposed to be smooth and round. THANKS!

sounds like u need a new power supply, thats what happened to me awhile back and sent it into m$ but you cant since its modded. that happened to me b4 i wzas ever in the mod scene. well try a different power supply if u can get ur hands on one but make sure it goes with your version of xbox and if that one works with no probs den you need to get a new power supply from ebay or sum online store that sells xbox power supplys.

If you have a soldering iron, you can try to repair the 2 solder points. If you don't feel comfortable doing that though, I'd recommend a new PSU. Make sure you get the correct version. I wouldn't use it until it is fixed or replaced though.

In terms of replacing the power supply it is absolutly no problem whatsoever

i can see that you already opened your xbox to put in a modchip and harddrive. thats the hardest part, opening your xbox.

unplug the cable going to the motherboard and to the hardrive
after that unscrew the old power supply (2 Screws, thats right only 2)
screw in the new power supply
reattach wires to corresponding sockets

and your done.

pretty easy fix
