Will 1500 grit sandpaper make the jewel crystal clear? I used 800 on it last and it is foggy and has noticeable scratches.

yo yo yo. I know oven cleaner gets rid of the paint but it's not going to get rid of the scratches.

Okay, try going to 1500 then to 2000, and then rub some toothpaste (yes, toothpaste) into the jewel. It should come out crystal clear.

Also, Brasso gets out very small scratches.

Sand the jewel down with some 2000 - sand it lightly - for about 5 mins.

Get some brasso - Put a blob of brasso onto a rag.

Flatten out the rag - and place the jewel ontop of the blob of brasso.

Now rub the jewel back and forth applying as much pressure as possible.

Do this for about a further 5 mins ( More pressure and the faster that you can move it will give a better effect ) - Note: Using this method causes a terrible chemical smell because you are actually heating up the plastic and in effect melting a very small ammount of it away - Use it it a well ventilated area - and use a painters mask or a wet tshirt so that you dont breathe it in.

wipe off excess brasso - and wait for the jewel to cool down - then run it under running water.

Check the jewel in the light and see if it is crystal clear - If not repeat the steps until it is.

You can also sand it up, then put a bit of clear coat on it.
