Full DVD-replacement completed ?
>> People were trying to find a way to replace the Xbox DVDROM with a PC-DVD player. Problem is you can't play original xbox games amymore.

Tiros said he managed to transform a SAMSUNG 616T to fully work in the Xbox. It does need some modifcations before it works ofcourse (like flashing the rom of the drive , ...)

Tiros post on the xboxhacker.net forums:
QUOTE

616T - It Works!
Play Originals, Any Media, Full Eject Support, No Chip Required!

1) Flash 605 of course!
2) Reverse phase of tray motor.
3) Connect yellow wires to Trin, Trout, Eject, And Mute (CD Ready after flash) These points are labled on back of large PCB, near white ribbon cable entry point.

Your done!

I'm sorry I have no more time tonight to provide further detail.
Stay tuned, tomorrow I will provide pin numbers and more detail on connection points.

Thanks goes to J-S L. for sending us this link.

I hope this is true cause that will be SWEET!!!

I can deal with the flashing in Step 1 and the soldering in Step 3...but what the hell is Step 2? I'm guessing that means it will force the drive to read the outside of the disc first, but I don't know what's involved in doing this.

no i connected the 12v,5v and both gnd's of the yellow cable to the drive but a power splitter would do the same thing

The tutorials say to plug in a power splitter from hdd and into the dvd...but u need the yellow wires to eject and stuff i thought
