I watch movies off my hdd all the time.

Try going to the "My Files" option and than select were you copied the file to.

Sounds like you copied the whole dvd to your xbox.

Usually the video files are the biggest around a gig each. Look at the name cuz you can tell from that too.

It should have some files listing vob_00+. The vob00 is the title and anything vob01 and up is the movie usually.

If you have newest version of xbmc it supports menus. If not then use the yellow button to create a playlist and then the white button to jump to the playlist so it'll play straight through since the files are split.

ive found different dvds do different things. on one of mine i just select the first file and it plays all the way through, but on another you have to select each file one after another,

that playlist idea of ghost_psalm777's is a good one, i might try it

ghost_psalm777 which yellow button are you talking about? I pressed the Y button and it scrolled down a few selections and did nothing after that.

Pressing Y puts the file into a playlist, do it with all the right files and press black to go to playlist and play em. But the playlsit may be on shuffle. Just use stacking

why dont you just play VIDEO_TS.IFO, it should just start playing the movie since the beginning.

I usually make a image of the Movie as well shrink it to save space on the HD..

I'm running a Mac so here's how I do it on the Mac

1)MactheRipper ---- RIP DVD to HDD

2) DVD2oneX -----Shrink DVD to Whatever you specfic it to... I usually Shrink to 4 GB

3)DVD Imager ---- Makes a Image of the Movie Using the Video_TS Folder

4)FTP the Image to the Box

5) Click it in XBMC then Enjoy!!

Hope this gives you a idea how to make it run on your box...

Cheers!

DVD Decryptor = takes video files from dvd onto pc
DVD Shrink = make the video files smaller
Flash FXP = transfer files to xbox
