Well.. Habibi in Arabic means love so this guys name is love xbox. It is really suprising to me that a arab would win the challenge. But hey he did it, good for him. Just wish it was me who figured it out 1st. jester.gif

Hmmm, that seemed like a borderline racist comment. blink.gif Why would it suprise you might I ask?

Well... It is not a racist remark. Knowing that I am an Arab. It just suprised me that someone named habibi-xbox, love xbox, would win the challenge. You usually dotn see too many arabs in America who know how to hack into a xbox. blink.gif

But an Asian cracking the xbox is "normal"? I dunno, I have been in enough scenes to know that all walks of life do this stuff, an asian cracked it, but Germans stepped up to the plate to make the modchips.. Actually, what has the US WASP popluation done for the Xbox scene? biggrin.gif ..

Here is a little info on Bunnie, infamous XBox hacker:

I'm Asian, but that's a bit general (after all, over 20% of the world is Asian). I was born in 1975 (year of the rabbit), and I call Kalamazoo, MI my home.

Have they announced that he's won? I'd be supprised if he does, since a box which has had 007 installed is not unmodified. They should have made it clearer if this is the case, ie a box taken out of it's shrinkwrap, plug in, boot linux.

- To Phatmasterphex

You think you know more Arabic than me???? I was born in Yemen, and Yemen raised. Dont go opening your mouth about anything. And I doubt that you are Arab. And habibi can mean darling, but is native term is love, as in my love. Dont go opening your mouth when you dont know $hit!!!!!!!

Go here for the definition Habibi, you tell me that I dont know my Arabic, hahahahahhahahahaaaa laugh.gif

1 more edit: I dont wanna fight with a little child over the internet, it is not worth my time. I have better things to do, and I am think that you do too. So lets just drop it at this. cool.gif

CNET: "Hacker cracks Xbox challenge" - SiliconIce @ 01:29 CST
An anonymous hacker has succeeded in running Linux on an unmodified Xbox, apparently satisfying a $100,000 challenge funded by Lindows founder Michael Robertson.

A hacker using the name Habibi-Xbox revealed the exploit Saturday in a message posted on the Xbox Hacker Web site. Organizers of the Xbox-Linux Project confirmed the method works.

Yeah I don't believe he deserves the full 100k unless by the time the event is over with, it is still the only solution.
I don't classify that was a real no boot solution.
I wonder why no one has done the same method that the kid at mit did to get the key and then sign a booter/linux kernel combo to be ran off cdrw then one for dvd-r tongue.gif

Would be worth the 100k wink.gif
