Hi,

Sorry this is a re-post. I tried this on new bee chat forum and later realised that that was not the correct forum, so re-posting here again.

I am having a strange problem. I have connected my pc with a modded xbox via a wireless router and provided shared access to xbox (i.e., xbmc) to some of the folders in pc (i.e, music and videos) using smb. My pc has got windows 2000.

ip address of the wireless network connection on pc is 192.168.0.1

Xbox and xbmc settings:
ip address 192.168.0.3
Default gateway 192.168.0.1

I access internet using an USB modem and internet service provider assigns an ip address dynamically to that network connection which is something like 62.xxx.xxx.xxx.

From Xbmc, i am able to play files on shared folders without any problem as long as my pc is not connected to internet. The moment i connect to internet, xbmc is not able to access files on my shared folders eventhough i can ftp files to xbox from pc. The error i am getting is 'Share not available'.

I want xbmc to play files on shared folders even if i am connected to internet. Can anyone help me in this.

Cheers

Do you have any kind of third-party firewall? If so, try disabling it.

If this does not work, please connect to the internet, pull up a CMD.exe, and run 'ipconfig -all', and post the results. You can copy-paste from a dos box by dragging a rubber band over the text, then right-clicking to copy it.

First off, and I correct in my interpretation of your network topology? (A question: You have a wireless router, why aren't you using it to route to the internet? Is it perhaps only a wireless to ethernet router, and not a DSL one, or maybe an ethernet bridge?)

CODE

192.168.0.?
   |Router|      [Internet]
    /    \        /
   /             /
  /        \    /
 /             /
[Xbox]       [PC]
192.168.0.3 192.168.0.1

Please could you post the results of an ipconfig -all when not connected to the net, and a 'route PRINT' both connected and disconnected? Sorry to ask for even more information. I thought that the output of IPconfig when connected to the net would reveal some misconfiguration, but it hasn't. If it's not a firewall problem (which you've said it isn't), that means it's probably a routing problem, and these kind of things need a lot of information to debug.

Hi,

You are correct about in interpreting my home network. I am using router to connect internet as my internet is usb based and router is ethernet based.

Here i am giving the information you have asked for:

ipconfig /all before connecting to internet:
