I've done a few softmods...but these folks didnt really care about upgrading hdds and stuff they just wanted to be able to get rid of the old green and get a new look and capabilities..
the only thing that separates a softmod vs hardmod (IMO) is time..
what it takes to upgraded an hdd on a sofmod is way different then a hardmod..
but getting hardmodded is getting so much cheaper nowadays but there still a few that would kill ya if bring a torx drive 2 feet close to their box..
If I did get another box... I would softmod it..

Softmod and Chips are really the same thing,
the only thing is the chip is easier to work with on XBL.
softmod advantage is that it is free and requires no flashing, only a PC and a Action Replay.
