Hey Xbox-Scene people...

I was wondering, does the RPM speeds of a hard drive greatly affect the speed of the games and programs loading off of it?

For example, I want to put a 40GB HD into my Xbox, but I wanted to know if i'm better off using a 5400 RPM HD or a 7200 RPM HD.

Thanks

PS: The hard drives are:

Maxtor DiamondMax 8 [40GB] 7200 RPM

Maxtor Fireball 3 [40GB] 5400 RPM

Id go the 7200 RPM HDD. Then get a new IDE cable to go keep it flying along. I have a 80g in mine, 7200 RPM and a new IDE cable [ata 133 i think] and i only paid $75.00 [australian] for the lot. HDD prices have come down alot recently so maybe a 80gb would be worth the extra $15.00 difference

I found that when I upgraded to a 120GB 7200 RPM HD, that when playing Halo 2, the poping of graphics is almost completely gone!

I would like to say completely gone, but in some parts one can see a MS or so of textures loading in the arbiter mission.

I also found that Halo 1 loads faster off the HD then when using the disk.

And as for IDE cables, you think it really makes a difference? Hmmm I might just isntall some black IDE cables that come with my mobo then.
