This is a compilation of other posts already in the MODCHIP forums...

Please.. add any missing BIOS.. as I'm clearly missing HASH for all the colormod and NO etc variations of 75 and 76 x2 bios!

Post in this thread any that isn't lists.. and I'll EDIT and UPDATE this first post to reflect your additions!

Also.. try to check and see if your HASH is already listed... I'm sure we'll find plenty of DUPES.. smile.gif

Thanks!

BIOS HASH LIST - Identifies the BIOS based on its MD5 hash. Used by dashboards and other utils to identify the bios and confirm its integrity.

HOW IT WORKS - A short guide, in simple terms
For people that ask "What bios do I have"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Transfer evox.ini from the XBOX -> PC, and open it in notepad. Find a line that looks like:
Current = 0x6e77d14a22f7235a2da3f67e809d1c6b

now, right above that, you should see Lines that look like:

ROM = "X2 4976.02",0x1e259481510639d69c8223f75bd79b9b
ROM = "X2 4977",0x92987e26edd5833921c9b0e539ea091e
ROM = "X2 4978",0x6e77d14a22f7235a2da3f67e809d1c6b

In order for evox to recognise, and display the ROM, you must have a ROM line with the same hash as the CURRENT line.
so....
ROM = "X2 4978",0x6e77d14a22f7235a2da3f67e809d1c6b
Current = 0x6e77d14a22f7235a2da3f67e809d1c6b

Evox looks at the HASH, and returns the ROM NAME
NOTE: Evox puts the Current = line there when it boots up, you dont need to change that line.

for all you peeps who happen to live on IRC and happen to use mIRC, here's a nifty alias
CODE

md5 {
 if ($1 != $null && $exists($1)) {
   echo md5 for $nopath($longfn($1)) is: $md5($shortfn($1),2)
 }
 else if ($1 == $null) {
   %this = $dir="select a file"
   if (%this != $null) {
     echo md5 for $nopath($longfn(%this)) is: $md5($shortfn(%this),2)
   }
 }
 else echo that file does not exist!
}
only tested on 6.03, i dunno when $md5 was added....

Nice scripting.

Just as an FYI, you can go to Tools -> Aliases and paste this at the end of you aliases.ini file.

The mIRC syntax would be:
/md5 [path\]filename where path is optional

Hello HSDEMONZ,

Have you noticed how the MD5 of a saved bios depends on which version of XBtool is used?

I've used v1.0 to create X2_4977_DarkerBlue_Noani_F_256k.bin from X2_4977_DarkerBlue_Noani_256k.bin
and then tried doing the same with the new v1.0.5. The crc's are different....
My Xbox boots EvolutionX fine from F though, so I'm not that worried...

Just thought I'd let you know,
Pacman

That's most likely due to the dash name pooling. In 1.0.5 the dash names will be packed differently into the space where they are stored and the pointers to those strings will be modified, so the MD5 will be different, even if you made no changes.

It may not be a good idea to list BIOS releases patched with LBA48. Considering it's a patch applicable by XBtool, and as Deacon indicated above different versions of XBtool can generate slightly different (but entierly valid) BIOS images with different hashes. It's probably a good rule to not include BIOS releases differentiated by XBtool patches...

FYI guys, if you dont find your current bios on the list, it's not the end of the world. It might be somone who has flashed the bios with other colours than the org. bios had. Made a new "evox.ini" file on his installer CD, then flashed from cd/dvd. If the same MD5 and ROM name isnt on the evox.ini that he then copies to your HD it will show up as unrec.... It's not important, itĘs not the end for the world :-D

If you realy realy realy want it to show a name just enter this

ROM = "My own bios ",here u past the "current bios" md5

I am sorry to bother you with this but even after spending days reading newbie forums and tutorials I am totally confused. I ordered an X3 modchip. I downloaded evox version 3935. I want to edit my evox.ini file. The tutorial says to get the latest BIOS here. I don't know if I need to copy the intire list of X3 BIOS from this list to my .ini file or not. (I read the posts about the ROM and Current lines matching and I do understand that.) Could someone please help me?
