Hey, i did all the stuff you told me to do and it still doesnt work, i connected the cross-over cable to the back of my PC (Ethernet Plug) then i placed it in the back of my xbox. I then restarted my computer and opened up CuteFTP, i then turned on my xbox, I then put in the IP address of the xbox, username, password and the port (Which by default is 21) i click connect and the following message comes up.

FILE TRANSFER LOG
The server forcibly closed the connection.
This normally results from a loss of the connection due to a timeout or a server reboot.
1) Try connecting to the server again later.
2) Verify that the problem is not local by trying to connect to an alternate server.

Can somebody please help me!

Your xbox dashboard should show the info about IP/gateway/DNS/subnet mask etc in the network settings (or sometimes even when you are in the main screen)

For windows:
right click on network settings -> properties, properties of the used connection (the NIC you use to connect the xbox)

What does it say NOW. Try clicking some buttons so get more info (just dont ever use OK, use cancel, you cant change anything then)

Easy way:

set ur xbox (ava= settings -> network -> DHCP = Yes) to use DHCP, use xp's networking wizzard to share that wireless connection (disable the xp firewall afterwards..), reboot ur pc, reboot xbox. tadaa, xbox get internet and an IP from ur pc.

Ok, ill give it a shot, but what was all that talk about the Network properties etc..? sad.gif
I do not know any of this stuff i think you might have gotten me mistaken i have the cross-over cable hooked up to my pc to the ethernet plug, im not all wireless.

Set Up = PC ---> Router (Wireless)
Xbox -----> PC (Connected Via Cross-Over Cable)

Ok, i think i see what the problem is, when i restart my PC the ethernet connection tries to find my xbox but it cant, it comes up with the 2 PC'S and a little caution sign infront of it

You guys said something about setting this up, i have clicked on the ethernets network properties but i did not find anything on inserting the IP,DNS,DHCP etc..

Can you please tell me exactly how to get to that form where i place all that information.

Im running Windows XP Home Edition.

On my router it is a 4 port hub wired or can be wireless. On the back I have 5 plugs one for internet and 4 for devices I want to put on internet/network <- this is hardwired method.

My pc is plugged into port # 1

ip 192.168.0.3
Sub 255.255.255.0
DFG 198.162.0.1

Xbox is in plugged into port # 2

ip 192.168.0.4
Sub 255.255.255.0
DFG 198.162.0.1
