the audio volume on my xbox is retardedly high and i get tons of distortion unless i lower it within games. of course there are games with no volume control (doom 3) and those are unplayable. is there a way to lower it? either a variable resistor on the motherboard or some other kind of global volume control. the box is 1.0, tsop flashed (i believe). distortion starts with the first green blob animation. thanks

Are you by any chance going to from your Xbox to your TV through stereo equipment of some sort, or surround sound, etc? Maybe the volume on this is very high, giving you poor audio unless you turn it down within games which reduces the volume out of the stereo as well.

nah it was going straight to tv. if i pass it through my vcr's Rf modulator the sound is fine. i guess the vcr can handle higher signal levels.... of course i'd much rather hook it up directly to the tv. and before anyone asks: when i connect a vcr or a dvd player to the tv's a/v inputs the sound is just fine
