it seems now and then when i start my xbox where it shows bios version it sometimes shows unknown, if this is shown and i try starting anything from games to xbmc nothing happens during the loading screen shown in evox just before launching whatever i pressed, it just freezes.

somehow i managed to figure out that turning of the xbox and hitting the xbox firmly and relatively hard on the top just under the middle green xbox logo on the case and then boot up the xbox it works and again shows the bios info and lets me start whatever i want..

is there some sort of hardware piece just under the chassi thats "loose", "fit loosely" or what?

I would have to wager on a loose D0 KKat was sugesting, ALSO i ran across this same thing on an xbox someone sent me, a 1.0 D0 was not placed correctlyit was off by 1 ole but the damn thing still booted 60% of the time, dont ask me how but when popped into D0 100% success

So it boils down to check D0
then check placement of chip on lpc pad
