Has anyone done a mod like this one? http://www.xbox-scen...dd-doudou40.php
If so, how well does it work and was it hard to do? I really need a better way of switching between my two hard drives

Yes I tried to do it and failed pretty badly. I bought the first IDE cable from llama which was like IDE 100 or something so it never worked. Then I bought a IDE 133 from LePpPer. At first the IDE cable was too long to send data. My secondary drive would work with both connected but my stock drive would only work if it was the only one on the line. Then I tried to shorten the IDE cable and the connectors weren't attaching right so they kept breaking. After that I just got pissed off and gave up on it.

It's not as easy as it seems. Plus fitting it in can be a huge pain in the ass.

Hi,
There's lots of people running two hard drives with a switch.

I'm using a dpdt switch, and switching the +12v and +5v. ( Look through tutorials).
You may have to cut or put a switch on the red ide wire too (this depends on the compatibility of the hdd's you've got) Stock seagate hdd's, as far as I've seen need a switch/ cut on the red ide wire. Also page 6 and 7 of my thread (2 hdd's in standard case)

Dude, I'd wait to do this mod,

Thanks to SteveWal And Pablot,

I've figured out, Bar None the best way to do a dual Hd mod
When it's all done, Stevewal and I are going to post a joint tutorial with lots of pics.

I'll say this,

You'll be able to wirelessly boot from both harddrives in a stock case.

It requires no cutting on your dvd drive, and you can keep your dvd drive in.

It requires no soldering to the hard drive.

It will include SteveWal's genius Hd indicator/power button light.

You'll be able to reboot wirelessly, to the other drive with the push of a button, with the option of having it switch off your modchip for live play.

And controll any sort of other led and lighting mods the XIRC MCE can support as well as the standard remote eject/power functions.

So I'd wait until this project is done, and then you'll probably be alot happier with the end product. beerchug.gif

More to come soon...

Is that what passes for sarcasm these days?

I suppose no one takes anyone's word for anything anymore, they only believe it when they see the end results. Ohh, good job, I'll have to try that

I've spent about a week straight and droke my DVD drive, figuring out how I'm going to do this, and instead of being psyched about a "cool new mod", you just threadcrap like an Idiot! mad.gif

Maybe I got a little excited, and it sounded like I was bragging, but why do you have to be such a critical asshole. Can't you be happy about anything?!

My appoligies if that wasn't sarcasm.

Its just the phrase "the tutorial i'm sure you'll do" smasks of asrcasm to me.

Nothing pisses me of more than when people assume that you're all talk or don't know what you're talking about, when they've never met you or even talked to you before.
I think alot of that goes on in these forums and the innability of text to communicate how someone might mean something they say, just makes for conflict.

I don't mean to snap on any one for no reason, and if he was being honest, I apologise for that.
