Hi, long time reader first time poster tongue.gif I'm having a couple of problems with my otherwise perfect xbox. Basically, I can't get DVDx2 to work, this bothers me. I have downloaded the iso from xbins, extracted it using craxtion, and FTP'd it to e:\apps\DVD Player\default.xbe Then, when I try to run it from EvolutionX (Under apps/DVD dongle free etc), nothing happens. I get a black screen and then it cuts back to the EvolutionX home page.

I have another problem though, which I think might be linked. I can't boot to the official MS xbox dash. I don't know why though, I *think* I followed the backing up instructions to the tee, but it obviously doesn't work. When I select the "MS Dashboard" option from evolutionX, I get a FRAG and I can make out a black screen with green writing saying something like "Unit faulty, send for repair" or something (Can't read it properly because the screen's all flickery - Maybe because it's on a 50Hz TV?), with a number 16 in the corner. Similarly, when I switch the box on with the chip (X-ecuter 2.6CE) turned OFF, I get the same but with a number 21.

So I'm not sure if these problems are inter-linked, but perhaps they are. So to check I have everything in the right place, here's my directory structure for my box:

I've just been playing with a couple of other dashboards, and ended up with Avalaunch. As I was flicking through the options (as you do), I discovered the "Download DVDX2" option. So I clicked that and lo, now it works. Which leads me to believe that xbins might have a non-working version. But anyway, that's one problem solved biggrin.gif

Still need to fix the Msdash thing though. Is anyone going to join in with me, or am I just talking to myself? rolleyes.gif

No, my MS dash is renamed to msxboxdash.xbe. xboxdash.xbe is evoX, as that's what the bios looks for to boot first.

Thanks, didn't know that about the error number. Although I haven't deleted all the dashboards or anything, so I'm ok. Everything still works, apart from my clock won't set properly as the ms xboxdash is missing/incomplete, right? Is there anywhere I can find the standard xbox dash bits and pieces. I presume there are more files needed for the dash, which I must have deleted somewhere along the line. Is there anywhere I can find these files? The usual place doesn't seem to have them.

Is this what I need Slayer's evoX for? I don't want to completely format the drive (There's loads of other stuff on there I don't want to lose). Thanks.

EDIT: I could lose the C:\, don't mind about that. It's just the E:\ and F:\ that I don't want wiping smile.gif

Finally got it sorted after a morning of frustration. In the end all I did was download Slayer and run that to reinstall the MS dash and lock the hard drive. So now it all works good smile.gif
