Intel, which last week threw its considerable weight behind the HD-DVD optical disc standard, reportedly said Tuesday it is also open to supporting the competing Blu-ray format if it allows content to be copied for use in a home network.

Ouch... seeing as their demand is most likely going to be meant because it is the demand of alot of it's backers and is the one thing that would be holding it back it looks like M$ just got left in the cold in the format wars.

How is supporting both(which Id probably do if I were them) backpedaling out of the deal?

I didnt see anywhere in last weeks articles where Intel said they'd never support Blu Ray in the future.

And Intel doing so doesnt leave MS "in the cold" for a format war..those are strong words.

Thats all I have to say on the matter.

Also I thought is was Toshiba who is actually in the format war with sony not MS. After all, they are the ones that developed the HD-DVD technology. MS just said this is who they are backing as of now. Chances are that if Blu-Ray does wins MS will just back them. Remember people its always about the money.

I read up some on how Hd-dvd and ble-ray work on howstuffworks.com (cool site). Now you all KNOW that i'm no one special, but I would have to think that bigger is better (thats why I like my v8) I could see this move comming. Plus I like the blue laser that would be sweet to see.

HD-DVD has a blue laser too. I just hate how they're trying to go all DRM-Nazi on us.

A-freaking-men. If I want to rip a DVD that I OWN, I WILL do it, even though right now doing it and programs that allow you to do it are illegal as they break copy protection.
