Well, my dad got pretty angry at me, talking crap about my Xbox warranty and that, sooooo i was thinking of alternate ideas, and i thought maybe i could take off the top cover of the box and attach the LEDs, but so that they arn't physically a part of the Xbox, and then i could lead the wires out of the back, into some sort of switch (Havn't thought of that yet), and my dad shouldn't complain because i'm not actually doing anything apart from taking the cover off.

by taking the case off you are vioding the warranty.. as soon as you break that sticker underneath the xbox case to expose the screw, your warranty is goooone.

And that right there is what voids the warranty. You might want to use the 5V in the controller ports if you are desperate to add external LEDs.

If you want something really nice without taking your xbox apart , Connect LEDs to the vibration motors. It is very cheap (Requires 2 LEDs and soldering iron). It is fun to look at as well.

You should try getting the back stickers off without harming them, then stick them back on, i did it and it look like the seal hasnt been broken, just need a hair dryer and peel em off slow.

But if you can get inside the xbox, try doing controller dongle LED's, easiest mod to do. requires one led and one resistor.

But if you end up opening it and screwing something, the chances of that are so minimal when you have help from people here though. The chances of ruining something are slim.
and if you do ruin something, no doubt you will be bale to fix it with some knowledgeable people on this board.

Ah, good idea! Do you need any resistors for the LEDs? Also, is there any real chance that i might stuff up? (i'm good with a soldering iron so i guess that's a plus [used to make little robots that move around lol wink.gif ]) tongue.gif

No resistors at all required , I did not use any and they work perfectly but if you are going to tap into power on any where else on the controller use resistors.

Not using a resistor could end up blowing your led, better off using a resistor and knowing itsnever going to get blown.
