Hey.. I thinking of modding my box with a PC-BioXX, but I'm unsure about a couple of things.

1) Is there anyway of accidentally flashing the xbox's onboard BIOS? Is it possible to screw things up by flashing the PC-BioXX's chip with a dodgy bios that would affect the actual xbox itself?

2) Is there a way of bypassing the chip so the xbox boots as normal? Or can you install a switch to turn it off?

Thanks WMFMS

1] No, you have to jump points on the motherboard to allow flashing of the BIOS. If those are never jumped, you don't have to worry about flashing the BIOS.

2] You can install a switch into almost any MOD chip. Ask the company you bought the chip from what wires you should switch.

Also, when all 10 wires are soldered & jumper on PC-Bioxx is closed, it can be configured to boot to the orginal bios by holding down the reset button for a couple of seconds. See page 3 of the manual here for details: http://image.lik-san...bioxx100eng.pdf

Note though, if you upgrade your hard drive then you can't boot your original bios anymore. The Xbox will give you an error stating your HD must be locked.

And, I would think most people buying a PCBIOXX will also want to upgrade their HD too.

I'm slowly filling my HD with MP3, Snes games, Mame games, etc. etc.
It's great!
