Hi, I have a retail box and the dashboard got messed up (clock error 16) so now I need a way to unlock the drive so I can throw it into my modded box (or PC) and fix it.

Is there a way?

Thanx!

Am I missing something?

I read this guide on XboxHDM:
http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=244043

but it says i need the eeprom.bin file, which is on the hard drive, so I can't access it.

I may have missed something, or perhaps I am reading thw wrong guide. Would you mind pointing me in the right direction?

ok, I am fuzzy on the whole process here, but I appreciate you guys helping me!

For this hotswap should I let the x-box boot up, then get error message, then spin down the HD. Then I plug the IDE cable from my PC into the X-Box HD (without unplugging the molex connector) and boot the PC with XboxHDM?

Thanx again, please correct me if I am wrong or let me know that I am right so I can try this tonight!

Wow, thats pretty complex. Due to my CTS I have a very hard time soldering anything :-(

Is that the only way? The hotswap method sounds a little better, atleast for me.

make sure you ground the xbox to the PC first
this can be done by simply pluging in the audio RCA plugs in to you sound card
or connecting the outer ring of any one of them to the PC case

from what I have read on here you should let the HD spin down... I didn't say anything about powering off the X-Box.
