say you download a skin like you have. More then likely it'll be in a rar or zip file.... Extract what ever is in it.
Now you should have a folder named what ever the rar/zip was named. In it you'll either have a folder or all of the files in the skin. If it's a folder look inside the folder for an .xbx file of the same exact name.
So say you have a folder named "Lohay Dose", you'd look for a file named "Lohay Dose.xbx"
Ok so what if it's not like that then huh?? then what do you do?????
If you unrar/unzip all of the files and the folder just has files in it without the subfolder. You should try to remember the name of the skin you downloaded. Look for an xbx of that name. BOOM you found it!! ok but say when the rar file got unrared the folder wasnt named what the .xbx was.... RENAME THE FOLDER.

Thoe whole thing comes down to having an xbx file named the same as the containing folder inside of your skins folder. So back to the "Lohay Dose" example.
If you were to look on your xbox via ftp/boxplorer/uix whatever... you'd see that the Lohay Dose.xbx would read as.
C:/user.interface.x.dash/skins/Lohay Dose/Lohay Dose.xbx
Thats if you had your UIX xbe located on the root of C:/

If you still dont get it have your dad read this and have him ftp the skin over.

you could have just said check that its not in a subfolder and that the preset xbx and the folder have the same name.

Background are a different story.

If you can see the tabs and orb and stuff, its simple.

go into default.xip default.xap

find this line:
CODE
DEF theBackground Background

right below it there will be a line commented out
CODE
DEF theBackground Background
{
    skyColor 0 0 0
    //backdrop ImageTexture { url "xboxlogo.xbx" }   <--- THIS ONE
}

change it to:

CODE
DEF theBackground Background
{
    skyColor 0 0 0
    backdrop ImageTexture { url "background.xbx" }
}

did you get rid of the // in front of //backdrop ImageTexture { url "xboxlogo.xbx" } ?
did you delete your uix cache out of Udata and Tdata?
did you make sure the save and transfer actually worked by ftping the xip back to your pc and checking it for the changes?
UIX is a tricky beast. My advice would be to load another app that has ftp access and delete the uix cache and then ftp the saved xip over. UIX usually wont change a xip if it's being used.
