When Bochs x86 for XBox v1 was released back in August 2002, I suspect it was based off
version 1.4.x source code. Now that version 2.0.2 is available, will Xport delight us with an
updated release?. I heard they achieved an interesting 2x speed increase compared with the older version.

As xbox is very close to a PC, I guess we would more need something like VMware to be ported than Bochs, which is so slow

VMware would be nice, but it's a commercial product, so I think there's no chance. Bochs is open-source and therefore fair game for porting to Xbox.

"Plex86 was founded to provide an open-source alternative to the commercial, closed source VMware in fact, the original name of the project was "FreeMWare."

However, if you read its project page, it sounds very tightly tied to the linux kernel, making porting of it a real bitch, and unlikely worthwhile.

"DOSEMU stands for DOS Emulation, and is a linux application that enables the Linux OS to run many DOS programs"

Likely the same goes for this. Its doubtful that 1) we need either of these, 2) someone would be willing to invest the time into this. I just wanted to post the links to show the two open source VM apps that exist. Oh, you also can read this url for more info:

I have dabled with all of the free x86 emus, and DosBox

and Boch are definatly the only one worth mention.

You can't even run Duke Nuke'm under VMWare correctly, not to mention a slew of other games, emus like that are designed with business apps in mind and that is about it.

I would be elated to see Alone In The Dark running perfectly on my XBOX, an updated Boch would be prolly the best emu port I could think of next, that or an Amiga emu that supports Hard Drive, RTG Video, and 040 support.
