I wanna get a Linksys WRT54G router and flash it with the Kai-enabled bios, but I am wondering how the hell do I know which version I am buying. I know version 5 and 6 are incompatible with the Kai bios, so I don't wan't to buy them by mistake. Let's say I go get the latest model at Best Buy, will it be compatible? If not, then where can I get a V.4 (or earlier compatible versions) of this router?

PS: I tried the search button, but it didn't work.

look at the physical router. its on one of the stickers. just remember to look all around. well, at least on my it does (i have version 2). also, to my knowledge, if it is a router that does not support xlinkkai wrt54g custom firmware, it wont allow you to reflash the firmware.

i think the only way to be sure you are getting a compatible router is to get the wrt54gl, its basically just the wrt54g v4 and its probably gonna cost more than current wrt54g, but i think its the only way to be sure
