Maybe this is bad etiqette (sic), since I am taking no initiative whatsoever to try to learn how to do this myself, but maybe somebody out there loves writing scripts and wants something new to do.

So my idea is make a script that can stream movies from vcdstorage.com - they have lots of movies available to watch which works great on my PC, so I'd imagine they'd work from XBMC. Quality probably won't be great on the TV, but who knows...

Not even enough interested for a reply. Aww. Oh well. Even if nobody's motivated enough to write a script for it, I still think it's a cool site to share.... the full length movies you can watch are the ones listed on the left, not the trailers with big icons in the center.

im interested in this.

i looked at the site, and downloaded one of the movies to my pc and then played it on my xbox via my lan to check quality. movie was very watchable. I could easily watch those movies without moaning about quality.

the movie files are easy to get at as they seem to be just http://www.vcdstorag.../Movie.Name.wmv

i dont know how to do it, but you'd just need to be able to input an url to stream from.

should be easy enough for someone who knows python.

I dont know python at all but the way to make stream is to creat a stream file like this.
Open notepad and put the url in it.
http://www.vcdstorag.../Movie.Name.wmv
then close it and name it the same name as the movie.
Movie.Name.txt
change the txt to .strm
now put on your xbox where ever. Id put it in movies and watch. biggrin.gif

Yes this would be a very good idea, it probably wont last very long (all the online movie/cartoon networks seem to shut down oretty fast). Hopefully someone will make a script for this....

Left click on the movie name and go to properties. Now the url listed there will be for both the movie an d player but in it you will find the movie. Just look for a url ending with avi or wmv or aanother movie extention. Copy that and insert it into a downloader and there you have it.

Just for the heck of it, I've hacked ooba to deal with the website, and now it should 'decode' the htm tags properly. It took a long while (I think there's a bug in ooba), but it's working well now. The new script package is now called ooba_mod. Enjoy while it lasts. laugh.gif
