Hi All,

I have 2 xboxes. One is modded and one is not. The unmoded one i use for xb live, and is starting to produce "cant read dvd disc" errors all the time now with every game. I am wondering if I can use the moded xbox to configure a regular cheap PC DVD drive, then transfer it to the unmoded xbox? The unmoded one is the older thompson driver xbox version 1.0.

Basically, im wondering if im able to use a regular pc dvd drive in an unmoded xbox if i can somehow use a moded one to configure it?

I searched around without much luck. Thanks guys!

To use an PC DVD drive in an Xbox, the Xbox has to be modded with a modchip, or has its TSOP flashed, with a BIOS with the DVD drive check removed.

The stock Xbox BIOS checks for the presence of an Xbox DVD drive on startup, and if it can't find one, the bootup sequence will not complete.
