Hello,

I recently purchased a used Xbox off of eBay (always take chances there). My OEM hard drive in it recently died (continous clicking, not recognized). That's okay though, because I was going to put a larger one in there. I don't have a modchip, I was just using a softmod. Unfortunately, I hadn't copied any of my files (C, E, eeprom.bin) to my PC hard drive. I don't have any backups at all of this information. My biggest problem I believe is that I no longer have the key to lock/unlock my HDD.

I pulled my eeprom off of my motherboard and built a reader last night, but I don't know for sure if the data pulled off is right. (I was using ponyprog, and was unsure of some of the settings, so the endians might be wrong, etc) This is what I have in the eeprom.bin file I pulled off of the chip. Can anyone tell me if this might be the right information? If not, could anyone show me what an eeprom.bim might look like? (Note: I'm not going to play on live ever, so I don't care who has my anything)

Also, for some reason the "preview" shows the eeprom alright, but it doesn't show up right in the forum. You might need to copy/pasete it into notepad or something and disable wordwrap. Sory for the inconvience

If nothing else, are there any programs available that I could plug the eeprom.bin into and it shows the info?

Second problem...most of the tutorials I read about adding a bigger hard drive involve copying your pre-existing filesystem over. I don't have an existing filesystem? Is there a way to do a fresh install without any existing information?

Thanks for any help!

This should be in the Tech forum.

But if you install a chip you can use a slayers or any other auto installer to format the new drive and install the dash and apps.

You don't need to lock the drive unless you want to boot onto the MS dash.

Live will kick you off for the HDD change anyway.

Avoid softmods if you want cheap flash the TSOP. Itís to late to do that without a chip now though.

Divineo tells me there's goign to be a 7 day wait til I can get the chip I want, so I might as well work a little more at this for a day or so.

Well, so far I've learned that my eeprom dump seems to be good. xboxhdm tells me my password and everything. I think that's good.

I'm going to try now to see if I can take the stuff from the Slayers Auto Installer CD and plop it in too, to see if it will build me a drive.

Unless you have a hacked bios on the TSOP or on a chip you can't boot from a none xbox disc.
