Is there? Is it worth it to buy the more expensive mod chip?

All modchips do basically the same thing. The major difference is that the more expensive chips have more features (multiple BIOS banks, power/eject bypass, etc.). More expensive chips also tend to be more reliable.

Ok, so I would assume that it is worth it to go with the more expensive mod chip.

I would reccomed it, I used to have a DuoX2 ($15) and it was a decent chip for the price, but it had limited features, and for some reason every 3-4 starts it would FRAG for no reason.

if you have a cheapmod and it works why spend the extra cash for features you will never use. It works, you have a new dash and you can run burned games. So sure you can buy a 60 dollar modhcip... and run the same dash... the same burned games. ohhh but its got a flashy new external switch yea that worth it.

Stick with what you got and works. If you wanna blow cash for something ya don't need, then I will provide ya with my paypal address.

Nope, they work awesome for expierienced modders. 15 Dollars, thats a steal. Sure you get fancy bakup options, LCD display options, and a slew of other cool features, but if you know whats going on, you'll have no trouble. cool.gif

DuoX2's are quality chips. They just don't have all the useless bells and whistles as the other more expensive ones. You can't judge a chip by one bad install.

I have several X3's and X3CE's sitting in my garage which were manufacturing defects OR burnt out within a couple months, but I'm not calling Xecuter's line of chips cheap (or worthless). They're good quality chips also...

If you want a modded box... DuoX2's are fine. If you want external bank switches, control panels, buttloads of lights flashing, usb ports, operating systems, etc.... then get something more expensive. The bottom line is that ALL chips allow your xbox to run unsigned code. So when you strip all the extra bells & whistles off the chips... they end up doing the exact same thing.

i would say that duox 2's are the most reliable chip ive ever worked with. 99% of all problems are due to a bad install by the user.

If you dont want live then just TSOP your box. You can even install a switch on 1.0-1.1. I have a box with a aladdin and a box with a X3. The x3 was a bit easier to set up and get going due to config live but if you have a limited budget then just get a aladdin/doux2/X2 chip.

I say X-changer v2.5, it has 2 banks a 256k and a 512k, with an OS flashed on the chip for an extra $5 over the DuoX. The OS will be able to help you if you have a bad flash and therefore wont need an external programmer. I have v2 and I love it hasnt fragged for me yet.

@ the poster. Bet you are more confused now than ever. This is why asking for opinions on chips is like asking for who is the best football team. Everyone has there own preferences.
In the ned you base your choice on needs and budget.
