Hi all,

Im going to get my x-box modded soon but need your help with some questions I have.

Im thinking of getting the LPC chip fitted, good choice?

Im really confused about all the other apps required, what exactly does a dashboard do? If I get Evox installed whats the latest version out? Are any other apps required for playing games from the hard drive?

Is there any think extra I should have installed?

Really need your help here guys as you can see im a real newbie sad.gif

Thank you,

Rich

dashboard it like ur pc's gui, if you have evox installed then you dont need any other apps to run hdd games, you mite want to upgrade your hard drive though, standard theres only room for about 2 games

depending on what chip your using you may need to patch the games to run them, i have x2lite and i dont need to patch any

some more knowledgeable members will no doubt tell you in more detail!

I have the x2 pro and have not had to patch games. I've not read about patching games. I've copied several to my new HD and played them for a short time.

If you get a new enough BIOS then you shouldn't need to patch games (4975 or greater for Xecuter 2)

ok, so your saying as long as I have a recent bios I wont need to patch games even with LPC mod?

Where can I find more info about bios's?

I can either get the LPC or the x2 lite, how do I communicate (update dashboard, bios etc) with the xbox?

Also are there currently any problems with a disable chips on-line?

Thanks,

Rich

An LPC mod is just the "modern" way of fitting an Xbox modchip. All newer modchips are LPC mods, the X2 (Pro and Lite), the Matrix, and cheapmods are examples.

The BIOS is what determines whether or not you can swap HDs, autopatch games, etc..

I recommend the Xecuter2 Lite chip (X2:Lite), it will serve your purpose well.

The newest X2 BIOS (4976.02 currently) has TONS of features and is the best BIOS out there right now.

1.The bios is what tells the xbox what to do;
a x2lite with the xecutor 4976.02 will be seen exactly the same as
a LPC based Chip. So as long as you have a new bios you are alright!

2. on the xbox-scene.com main site look under modchips and then bios!

3. You can FTP with the xbox through you're pc!

4. As long as the chip is disabled (e.g. switch D0) then you're ok...but remember then you will have to use your proper games.

Hope that helped... i must say i found you very polite which i think a lot of other people should take note from...
and a coincidence is that my name is rich!
